Rapper 50 Cent has said he's ready to take Kanye West's hip hop title after his recent VMAs drama.

The 34-year-old vowed two years ago to give up rap if Kanye beat him to number one but the star has now said it's "cool to hate Kanye" at the moment.

Kanye, 32, was criticised for interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the recent VMAs to say that Beyonce should have won the award.

50 Cent said: "Taylor is 17. She could be my child. Kanye may not have grown up in the space where you could have a child that early, but where I'm from, it could have happened.

"I could have a child her age right now. So it makes me feel different about the whole scenario. I don't think he had that in mind. I think he was just saying that he felt as an actual artist, and it's a mistake.

"He's paying for it now. I don't know how much damage it does, but it looks pretty bad from here. What do you do after that to make people sympathetic to you?"

He added: "Kanye was the underdog coming around under 50 Cent, and now he's becoming this guy who has so much arrogance that it's cool to hate Kanye West right now."

Rapper 50 Cent has 'lost a few million' in the economic crisis

mwanamuziki tajiri ndani ya sayari ya mziki.

Rapper 50 Cent has admitted he has "lost a few million" in the recent economic crisis.

The 34-year-old star has an estimated fortune of £500 million and is starring in new movie Dead Man Running.

He said: "Hey, if you don't lose some money in this recession it means you didn't have enough to start off with. Sure I lost a few [million] but that's just because I have so much. This is a time that will sort the strong from the weak."

However, that doesn't mean the rapper is cutting back on important things such as security.

He said: "I spend £20,000 a week on security. My home is surrounded by cameras. I need surveillance not only to look out for me but also to protect me. You get all these crazy lawsuits and I need cameras to check on things."
